“THE ARTIST”
Shakur is the artistic alias of Kaitlyn, a self-taught artist whose work explores life, emotion, and the moments that shape human experience. Her paintings focus on people, both everyday individuals and well-known figures all captured in moments of deep feeling or focus. Whether a subject appears to look through the canvas or is fully immersed in a defining moment, her intention is to reveal the emotion behind achievement and the humanity beneath recognition.
Grounded in the love of God and God’s people and plan, Shakur creates from that love and curiosity. She is drawn to emotion, discipline, and purpose, and aims to honor the individuality and significance of each person she paints.
Her connection to art began in childhood, when an elementary school art class teacher recognized her gift and told her she was an artist— a moment she once brushed off, but later came to understand.
Originally from Florida and now based in Atlanta, Shakur began taking painting more seriously after her move, developing and maturing her practice through consistency, curiosity, and a new found passion. Paint became her language, and the message is clear.
